Trina Solar Chief Financial Officer resigns

Share

This morning Trina Solar announced that Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Teresa Tan has resigned, effective July 15. Ms. Xu Ying (Merry Xu), currently a vice president and strategy assistant will serve as interim CFO until a replacement can be found.

While the resignation of a senior financial executive at a leading Chinese solar maker for personal reasons is cause for further investigation, a preliminary review of financial filings found little evidence of trouble at Trina, which posted solid Q1 2016 results and recently announced the acquisition of a Dutch PV cell factory.

Tan joined Trina Solar as CFO in 2013, and Trina Chairman and CEO Jifan Gao issued a brief statement which thanked her for her service but offered no additional clues to any circumstances in the company which may have prompted this move.

There is the possibility that this resignation is an indication of an internal power shift in Trina Solar, which is the world’s largest PV maker with 5.74 GW shipped in 2015.
