Trina Solar modules installed on 4 MW solar carport system

Trina Solar’s modules have been used for a great diversity of PV projects, and now can lay claim to a 4 MW solar carport array in Germany. Modules from the company’s Honey series were used, which recently broke an aperture efficiency record.

The 4 MW array was installed on the carport at car park P2 of Airport Weeze in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The energy generated is being fed into the grid of regional distributor Westnetz, but is also available for self-consumption of the airport. The panels have the double-duty of shielding the cars from the sun.

Electing to choose Trina Solar modules was project manager EEPro, who planned the installation and construction all within four weeks. An impressive 15,296 multicrystalline modules from Trina Solar’s Honey series were used for the installation.

“When selecting partners and products, we pay particular attention to state-of-the-art, high-quality technology, high-degree of reliability, and investment security,” commented EEPro Business Manager, Jan Kiermaier. “Trina Solar stood out for us as the leading provider in all of these points.”

“We are very pleased about the fruitful cooperation with EEPro,” said Trina Solar regional sales director Gonzalo de la Vina. “Together, we have demonstrated once again how PV projects can be implemented quickly and efficiently when project knowledge, quality products and experienced partners come together.”

It’s not the first time that Trina’s Honey series modules have been in the news this week, as one of the modules broke an efficiency record on Monday, with an aperture recording of 19.86%. The record was set across a module area of 1.514 m2 at Trina’s State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology of China, and was verified by the Fraunhofer ISE CalLab in Germany.
