Trina Solar will supply 23 MW of PV modules to Linuo Solar Power's distributed generation (DG) solar project in China's Shandong province.

The project will use 92,000 Trina Solar TSM-250PC05A modules and cover 500,000 square meters of rooftop. The array is expected to produce 2,990 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and mitigate 28,674 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Trina said it expected shipments to be completed by the end of June.

"Trina Solar's high quality and reliable modules meet our stringent product standards and the team's commitment to rapid delivery ensures that we can meet our construction schedule," said Guangyan Zhou, general manager of Linuo Power. "Benefiting from the Chinese government's supportive policies promoting DG installations, we expect our company to have an extensive project pipeline in China in the coming quarters."

Zhou added that Trina's products and service made the company an ideal partner for Linuo and that the companies would continue to work together on future downstream projects.

Zhiguo Zhu, president of Trina Solar's module business unit, noted that the Chinese government had announced an 8 GW target of distributed generation solar project installations this year, adding, "[W]e believe there is significant potential for Trina to capitalize on the growth opportunities in the DG market segment in the second half of 2014."

The Chinese group is aiming to develop 400 MW to 500 MW of downstream PV projects this year, with module shipments expected to reach as high as 3.8 GW.
