US: SunPower to build 10 MW Delaware solar park
23. September 2010 | Applications & Installations, Industry & Suppliers | By: Becky StuartSunPower Corp. has been selected to build the ten-megawatt (MW) Dover SUN Park in Delaware, the U.S. for LS Power Group subsidiary, White Oak Solar Energy, L.P.
The company has said it will design, build, operate and maintain the 103-acre park, which is expected to be operational next summer, and will deliver solar power to the regional utility grid operated by the city of Dover.
"SunPower sun-tracking technology is fast to install and reliably delivers clean power during peak demand periods, making solar a competitively-priced choice for power plant applications," said Steve Vavrik, managing director at SunPower.
White Oak is reportedly selling the energy and environmental attributes from the Dover SUN Park through long-term agreements with the City of Dover, Delmarva Power and Light, Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation and the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility.
