Indias leading solar energy generator continues to increase the size of its solar portfolio with 4 MW-AC more capacity in the north Indian state of Punjab.
The solar and wind IPP completed the 32 MW-AC Bhatinda PV plant last year — at the time reportedly Punjabs largest.
The two projects combined will feed 54.37 million units of clean energy annually to the grid.
Punjab's New and Renewable Energy Minister Bikram Singh Majithia confirmed late last year that the state had projects amounting to 1,550 MW at various stages of development — a 172-fold increase in just three years.
With each project the organization commissions, we are helping the country move closer to meeting its clean energy targets, said Welspun Renewables Vice Chairman Vineet Mittal.
Welspun Renewables said it was on target to commission 1 GW of solar and wind power projects by the end of this financial year.
The group, which is currently present in 10 states across India, has set a steady stream of benchmarks by commissioning some of the largest solar projects in the country.
