The project, which developer AES Solar says is the largest in the Caribbean, occupies 138 acres in the Guayama province of the island and is supplying photovoltaic power to 6,000 homes, after opening in October.

Philadelphia firm Global Energy Services USA performed the construction with the project creating 200 jobs. Meanwhile, Yingli Solar provided the YGE 60 Cell Series modules through its Yingli Green Energy Americas subsidiary.

The project will sell power to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) under a 20-year PPA.
