Yingli surpasses 10 GW of global solar module deployment

China's Yingli Green Energy has now shipped more than 10 GW of solar PV modules globally, sufficient to power four million average households and enough deployed systems to cover one-fifth of China’s residential power consumption in 2013.

Collectively, there are now more than 40 million Yingli solar modules deployed in more than 50 countries worldwide. With each module fully operational, Yingli’s fleet could offset 6.8 million tons of carbon emissions a year – the equivalent of planting more than 340 million trees.

After enjoying high profile success at the recent FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the company is confident that it can ramp-up its growth and market penetration even further, and is preparing to deliver sustained focus to small off-grid applications in some of the world’s emerging regions.

"With this achievement, we are one step closer to achieving our mission of providing affordable green energy for all," said Yingli chairman and CEO Liansheng Miao.

"Going forward, we will remain focused on technological innovation and operations optimization, with the goal of driving the expansion of solar PV worldwide," added Yingli’s chief strategy officer and executive director, Bryan Li. "We aim to maintain our leadership position in the global clean energy movement by continuing to deliver cutting-edge products and services that deliver long-term value to our partners around the world."

Yingli has been the world's leading supplier of PV modules for the past two years, according to figures from IHS, shipping more than 3 GW in 2013 for an 8.3% share of the global market, just ahead of its fellow Chinese rivals Trina Solar and Jinko Solar.
