Neo Solar Power Corp., which completed its merger with Taiwanese rival DelSolar Co. on Friday, says the new entity has already benefited from 300 MW in new module orders thanks to the deal, according to a report in the Taipei Times.

Neo Solar claims it has surpassed Motech Industries Inc. to become the biggest cell and module manufacturer in Taipei and the second largest in the world with a cell capacity of 2 GW/year and annual module output of up to 240 MW.

Taiwanese consultancy Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute predicted on Thursday that, thanks to the trade war between the EU and China, shipments from Taiwan to its near neighbour will rise 30% to 2 GW for the period from April to this month and cell prices will rise from US$0.37/Watt to $0.41/Watt.

Neo Solar chairman Quincy Lin, quoted in the Taipei Times, claims the company is in prime position to take advantage of the upsurge in Chinese orders and will also benefit from cheaper raw material costs thanks to stronger purchasing power due to its bigger size and influence after the merger.
