A photovoltaic power plant was erected by AS Solar on the rooftop of the children’s and youth hospital AUF DER BULT in Hanover, Germany.

This plant is proof that the production of solar power for self consumption is profitable for almost any commercial business, even in Germany. The produced power will be used 100 percent by the hospital, with production costs for the operator of the plant of only €0.113 per kWh.

Power is being produced without any funding from the Renewable Energy Law (EEG) – no fees have to be considered to finance the array and the user will not be charged additionally.

448 solar modules by REC generate a total power of 116 kWp. Therefore the power plant will provide approximately 100,000 kWh power output per year, this equals the average consumption of 30 households. During one year approximately 65.000 kg of CO2-emissions of conventional power production will be avoided.

The AS EnergyMaster provides smooth operations and reliable monitoring of the photovoltaic plant. Especially in concern of self-consumption of solar power this provides multiple advantages.

"The construction of the solar power plant was finished without any difficulties and in a very short period of time," explains Michael Walkling, managing director of AS Solar Projekte GmbH.

"We are pleased that the children's and youth hospital AUF DER BULT is being supplied with clean and affordable energy. In the end the little patients will also profit from this fact."

For the children's and youth hospital it has been a future-oriented project in multiple ways.

"On the one hand we want to act as role model for kids and young adults, through installing an environmental friendly solar power plant. On the other hand the concept and the profitability study were very positive, so that we decided in favor of a realization of the photovoltaic plant," said Gunter Seute, commercial director of the children's and youth hospital AUF DER BULT.

AS Solar Projekte GmbH took over all services concerning this photovoltaic plant, including the planning, the building and the start-up of the plant, which was handed over as turnkey project.
