Conergy conquers Sparta: another solar power plant for Greece

Share

This is the fifth Conergy installation to be announced in Greece since the beginning of the year. Conergy is the main contractor for the 20,000-square-metre turnkey power plant for a local customer and private investor. The system supplier is responsible for the engineering and layout of the plant, along with the supply of the components and the construction.

Over 2,000 Conergy PowerPlus modules on Conergy SolarLinea mounting systems will generate 659,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy each year. 30 Conergy IPG 15T inverters will then feed this electricity into the local grid. In this way, the solar park will produce enough power to supply 187 households – around one-fifth of the population of Molai. At the same time, it will save on the production of around 336 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. This corresponds to the emissions from 11,200 medium-sized cars driving the 170 kilometres between Sparta and Olympia, home of the first Olympic Games.

"It is the fifth solar installation so far this year – a huge achievement for us here in Greece, particularly in view of the country's current economic difficulties", says Dr. Stefanos Melissopoulos, Managing Director of Conergy Greece. "We support our customers in every way that we can and offer them top quality with our turnkey installations from a single source. This really pays off for our customers and allows us to feel optimistic about the ‘green’ future for Greece."

?he representative of the strategic investor, Isabella Gillmartin, is very convinced about her investment, saying: "Greece enjoys a huge amount of sunshine – so it makes sense to invest in solar. When we are looking for partners we always focus on quality, so Conergy was the obvious choice. We really feel we can rely on them because of their many years of experience in the sector”.
