IBC Solar and Dispatch Energy Innovation announce cooperation in battery solutions

IBC Solar, a worldwide leading photovoltaic specialist, has entered a cooperation agreement with the battery manufacturer Dispatch Energy Innovations GmbH. With this agreement IBC Solar enforces its commitment to storage solutions for solar energy. First results of the cooperation will be presented at this year’s Intersolar trade show: IBC Solar will introduce an intelligent power storage solution based on the IBC SolStore 3,5 Li which has been developed by Dispatch Energy Innovations. The battery is completely made in Germany.

With the cooperation IBC Solar addresses the changing requirements in the energy market: “Germany has resolved to switch its energy supply completely to renewable energies. A goal that cannot be achieved without photovoltaics in the energy mix”, explained Norbert Hahn, Member of the Executive Board at IBC Solar. “However, in order to be able to use more solar electricity, we need storage solutions that can supply the electricity generated by the sun around the clock. This cooperation enables us to offer our customers intelligent power storage solutions.”

Apart from the lithium-ion polymer battery, the storage solution that IBC Solar presents at the Intersolar trade show includes solar modules, an inverter as well as the IBC SolGuard which automatically controls the direct use of the electricity that the photovoltaic system generates. The storage system will enable households to cover up to 60 percent of their energy demand with their own PV system. The storage system prioritizes the direct use of the generated electricity and powers the household appliances first, before charging the batteries. Once the batteries are full, all excess energy is fed into the national grid.

"Our battery was developed together with the Fraunhofer Institute and offers an extremely high number of load cycles as well as long battery life time”, explains Dietmar Gruidl, managing director of Dispatch Energy Innovations GmbH.

“Furthermore, an integrated touch screen display shows the current battery capacity.” In addition to the storage solution based on lithium-ion technology, IBC Solar will present a second power storage system based on the proven valve regulated lead-acid (VLRA) technology at the Intersolar in Munich from June 8 to 10. Trade show visitors will receive more information on both systems at IBC SOLAR’s booth in Hall 6, Stand 310.
