Intersolar North America 2013: PV Materials Expert Forum

Share

SEMI formally announced the conference program for the SEMI PV Materials Expert Forum to be held at Intersolar North America 2013 in San Francisco, California on July 9, 2013. The Forum focuses on explores how materials impact system performance/cost and how innovation roadmaps, new technologies and advances in efficiency and lifetime will help to mitigate risk and drive lower levelized cost of electricity (LCOE). This highly relevant Forum comes at a time where the solar industry is struggling with quality issues that might have been mitigated by material standards enforcement.

Presentation highlights from the half day forum include:

Developer Signals within the PV Noise — Chase Weir, Distributed Sun

Keynote: What are the Developer’s Needs for the Future — Pablo Otin, Gestamp Solar

Cost of Ownership: Criticality of PV Components to Survive and Thrive — Ali Nouri, SunEdison (MEMC Solar Materials)

Riding the Roller Coaster to Solar 2.0: The Supplier’s Dilemma — Bruce A. Adams, Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc.

Making Sound Investments from the Inside Out: Why Materials Matter — Eric C. Romano, DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions

On the Ground Reality: Why Materials Matter to Owners, Operators and Investors — Hugh A. Kuhn, HAK Solar Advisory Services LLC

Cell & Module Technology: Insights into Innovation – A Solar Panel Manufacturer’s Perspective — Brian Grenko, Yingli Green Energy Americas

Cell & Module Technology: A Photovoltaic Module Roadmap and the DOE SunShot Initiatives — Dr. Douglas Hall, SunShot Initiative, US Department of Energy

Mark Thirsk, Managing Partner, Linx Consulting (Moderator)

“The SEMI PV Materials Expert Forum serves as a much needed and timely platform to bring together senior manufacturing and supply chain executives with an informed audience to share perspectives and discuss necessary actions for the creation of timely and consensus-based standards and quality guidelines along the entire value chain," said Karen Savala, president, SEMI Americas. "This is a critical step to harmonize materials and process interactions throughout the manufacturing and deployment process that will contribute to cost reduction and quality/reliability improvements."

Additional manufacturing and technology focused programs at Intersolar North America include:

4th Annual SEMI North American PV Fab Managers Forum focuses on addressing shared supply chain challenges and improving customer-supplier relations across the photovoltaic supply chain. New this year at the SEMI North American PV Fab Managers Forum is the “Foundation Market Maker” session led by representative experts from residential, commercial and utility scale solar sectors. This session will explore the present and desired future state of the industry.

VDMA delivers fresh content and perspectives at the PV ENERGY WORLD Stage (Thursday, July 11 at Moscone West) on PV production equipment for high-efficiency, organic and printed solar cells, new machine concepts, innovative materials, automation, laser concepts and integration solutions, as well as energy and resource efficiency (organized by SEMI).
