The German juwi group, one of the world’s leading project developers for renewable energies, further expands its international project business. From Dubai, the Gulf region’s economic metropolis, the new subsidiary juwi Renewable Energies FZCO is serving customers in North and East Africa and in the Arabic region. juwi Renewable Energies FZCO will act mainly as a consultant and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Partner specifically focusing on investors in solar projects. juwi Renewable Energies FZCO is a joint venture between juwi and the local corporation Z-One DMCC.

The first projects will be realized in the up-coming year. “We are evaluating large solar parks in Africa, an area with an abundance of sun. Photovoltaic offers the region a great chance for sustainable economic development”, says Luca Sacchetto, new Managing Director of juwi Renewable Energies FZCO.

Joint venture partner Yasser Gamil from Z-One DMCC mentions: “In the area of North and East Africa, the potential for the solar- and wind energy sector is huge. So far, we were lacking the know-how to implement specific projects. Now, with juwi at our side as an important and experienced partner, we hope to change the market of renewable energies in the area.”

The joint venture is a win-win-situation for both companies: With Z-One, juwi has a local partner who has the necessary contacts and the respective network for a successful implementation of renewable energy projects; with juwi, Z-One has an internationally renowned partner at its side to realized potential projects.

The new juwi subsidiary made its first appearance at this year’s GulfSol 2013 in Dubai. “The discussion held with potential clients have encouraged us to proceed with our plans. The gulf region as well as the countries in East and North Africa have a great backlog demand for renewable energies. Therefore, the activities in Dubai will greatly contribute towards a sustainable energy supply that current and future generations will benefit from“, Luca Sacchetto adds.
