Millard County approves 300 MW ECG Utah Solar 1 project

The project is located on 1754 acres leased from the Utah School and Institutional Trust Land Administration (SITLA), with a transmission easement to the Intermountain Power Project (IPP), about 1 mile from the project site.

Lease payments support Utah public schools. The project will also be a significant property tax source for the county and state.

The project will interconnect at the IPP switch yard where a high voltage transmission line originates called the Southern Transmission System (STS) which goes directly to Adelanto, California.

The project has made rapid progress since signing the SITLA lease in May 2013, including securing a interconnection queue position with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), the California Balancing Authority and Operating Agent at IPP.

The project will be considered Bucket 1 for the California renewable portfolio standard (RPS) since LADWP is the Balancing Authority at the switch yard. The project has also completed its biological and cultural studies.

Josh Case, CEO of ECG said, "Energy Capital Group is very pleased to have another project milestone achieved, with the finalizing of the conditional use permit for ECG Utah Solar 1 by Millard County today. Everyone in the county is great to work with and we appreciate their continued support. ECG looks forward to deepening our relationship with Millard County as the project continues to progress."
