Photovoltaic in Australia: A big PV plant has been installed on the roof of a school in Melbourne

Melbourne and the surrounding area has a total of 2,200 hours of sunshine per year.

This clearly presents a great opportunity to generate solar energy. Mazenod College is taking advantage of this opportunity by installing numerous PV modules on seven of their buildings. This PV plant is the largest in Australia that has ever been installed on the roof of a school. The PV plant was installed by Enervest, a company from Melbourne for residential and commercial installations. Enervest installed the Solar-Log™ energy management system (five Solar-Log 1200 devices are in use) to provide professional monitoring and to ensure the ideal amount self-consumption with its optimization function. With this system, malfunctions are immediately detected, helping to prevent yield losses. Solar-Log™ also offers numerous options for the consumption of the self-produced energy. The accompanying Solar-Log™ WEB "Commercial Edition" web portal provides the perfect solution to visualize the diverse amount of data and to make intelligent decisions in regard to the optimization of the system.

"The installation of the modules and the appropriate connection was a challenge. The state of Victoria assisted the project with grants. Thanks to PV plant monitoring and self-consumption optimization with the Solar-Log™, the PV is efficiently operating at all times," said Ross Warby, Managing Director of Enervest.
