Smart module technology from SMA and Tigo can now be planned with Sunny Design

System planners and installers are now able to ensure optimal and technically sound PV system configurations using TS4-R module optimizers. The number of module optimizers required for a planned PV system is specified as early as the planning phase.

“The design software provides installers with indispensable support in professional PV system planning,” said Dr. Thomas Straub, Senior Product Manager at SMA. “In terms of system design, the latest update to Sunny Design also incorporates PV systems with intelligent module optimization for shaded modules. In addition to the TS4-R module optimizers, Sunny Design includes other components offered by the solution from SMA and Tigo. These include the Tigo Cloud Connect Advanced management unit and the Tigo Gateway for system communication. System planners benefit from the fact that Sunny Design automatically selects the required functions of SMA and Tigo’s solution during the design process, based on what is most cost-effective.”

In cooperation with Tigo Energy, SMA has been offering solutions for yield optimization and monitoring at the module level for both existing and new PV systems since August. With the “Selective Deployment” function, for example, only shaded modules are equipped with an optimization function. As a result, the energy yield of the entire PV system can be cost-effectively increased. With previous solutions, every PV module had to be equipped with an optimizer, whether or not it was necessary. You can find more information about the latest generation of PV system optimization on our website at www.SMA.de/Tigo-en .

Sunny Design Web, the free software for PV systems from SMA, can be used for all types of PV systems and with all SMA inverters and technologies, including energy storage systems. The software is available globally at www.SunnyDesignWeb.com and can be used to calculate the perfect PV system configuration for individual needs, when provided with key information.
