VARTA Microbattery, a global leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of an extensive variety of high-technology rechargeable and primary batteries, today announced that VARTA Storage GmbH is featuring the Engion Home solar energy storage system at Intersolar North America, held July 8 through 10, 2014 in San Francisco, CA. Compact and powerful, Engion Home is a member of VARTA Storage's Engion family of energy storage solutions utilizing lithium ion (li-ion) technology to store energy generated by home photovoltaic (PV) systems. The Engion Home energy storage system is designed to store electricity from the electric utility grid and/or a PV solar system for use during electrical power outages.

VARTA's highly efficient li-ion battery modules to store the electricity generated from solar panels, power consumption commonly ranges from 20 to 70 percent of total self-consumption. As the Engion Home energy storage system is expandable due to the modular design of the batteries, systems are offered in sizes ranging from 2.8 kWh to 13.8 kWh.
