Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Ltd., one of the world's leading solar panel manufacturers, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Yingli Energy (China) Company Limited has completed a 50 megawatt (MW) "Top Runner" project in Datong City, Shanxi Province, China and connected it to the grid by the end of June 2016. Yingli China was selected to develop and construct the project in July 2015.

As part of the "Top Runner" program of China's National Energy Administration (NEA), the project is located in the coal-mining subsidence areas in Datong, Shanxi Province, which is the first National Advanced PV Technology Demonstration Base. The project utilized Yingli's TwinMAX 60 Cell bifacial series module, a frameless dual glass module that integrates Yingli's cutting-edge PANDA (n-type monocrystalline solar cell) technology which leads to a module efficiency of up to 18.8%. The project is expected to generate over 80 GWh of electricity per year, which is enough to power approximately 37 thousand typical households and equivalents to offsetting over 50 thousand tonnes of carbon emission annually.

"We are honored to complete the 50 MW ‘Top Runner' project and utilize our TwinMAX bifacial series module in the project, which required a high standard for power output and quality," commented Mr. Liansheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli. "This demonstrates the strong competitiveness of our products and we strive to continue our commitment to the development of advanced PV products with the mission of making solar energy affordable and accessible for everyone."
