The installation, which was designed and built by SunPower on ten acres of former agricultural land, is said to have doubled the solar power system capacity hosted by the city.
Tucson financed the system through a power purchase agreement with SunPower. Utility Trico Electric also provided funding.
While the city is hosting the system – owned by Wells Fargo – and buying the generated electricity, the Trico Electric Cooperative will purchase its renewable energy credits.
