Comprised of 37,389 thin film photovoltaic panels, the system will cover an area of 20 acres. It is expected to generate approximately 6.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, and provide 72 percent of the distribution center's electricity needs.
When completed this summer, the installation will be the largest customer-sited, rooftop solar installation to date in the U.S.
Constellation Energy will build, own and maintain the system, ToysRUs will purchase the generated electricity under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
