The German solar company has already supplied a total of 30,000 square meters of laminated glass, in three different finishes, to the project. Now, the 3,000 solar panels will be integrated into the Central Station Rotterdam’s rooftop, which spans an area of over 9,000 square meters.

According to Scheuten, the revamped station will be complete at the start of 2013. The capacity of this solar power plant will then be around 500 kilowatts.

Jan-Willem Tolkamp, BIPV sales manager comments: "Because of its size and design, Central Station Rotterdam is considered to be a highly prestigious project the world over.

"Even the logistical organization is very challenging, as due to the train services the time available for assembly work is extremely limited. This makes full and flawless delivery a requirement."
