India looks set to dominate at Intersolar Europe

According to the organizers, this year’s event is set to create new records in terms of visitor numbers. However, the trade show floors are, as of yet, still relatively quiet. However, what is apparent is the massive Chinese and Indian presence at the show.

And, from what pv magazine has heard from speaking to various companies, India is looking to boost its photovoltaic market by turning to automation in its manufacturing. Apparently, it has been said that many companies are in Munich in order to find automation partners. It has also been said that the country will turn into a gigawatt market soon.

Expanding

The organizers report that 2,280 companies from 49 countries are showcasing their wares at what has been described as the solar industry’s biggest event. Overall, the organizers say that 57 percent of the exhibitors are from abroad. They add that Germany, China, Italy, Spain and Taiwan represent the five top countries present at Intersolar.

With an exhibition space covering 168,000 square meters and spanning across 15 halls – three more than last year – the areas of photovoltaics, PV production technology and solar thermal technology are represented. Over 75,000 international visitors are expected to attend across the three days.

Parallel to the exhibition, the Intersolar Europe Conference is also being held at the International Congress Centre Munich (ICM) of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. It began two days prior to the exhibition and will continue throughout its duration.

"Intersolar Europe's continued growth highlights the public recognition of solar technology as a renewable alternative to other energy sources. The industry is growing – not just in Germany, but the world over. We are pleased to be able to actively support this positive growth with our event," commented Markus Elsässer, CEO of Solar Promotion GmbH, Pforzheim.

In recognition of the event’s importance, pv magazine is playing its part by recruiting an impressive host of exhibition reporters to scour the halls and report on the industry trends and news. We have also published the latest product launches.

Intersolar Europe 2011 takes place from June 8 to 10 in Munich. Watch out for more coverage of the show by pv magazine. The Intersolar award is also set to be presented at 15.30 this afternoon, so make sure you check out this year’s winner shortly.
