24.1 MW German crystalline PV project to be grid connected

The 24.1 megawatt Mixdorf project from Wirsol Solar AG is spread across 81 hectares in Germany’s Brandenburg region, on a former Russian fuel depot. The construction period lasted just three months and a special transformer substation was built.

Before construction work could begin, buildings, oil tanks and 130 tons of asbestos had to be removed.

Comprised of over 100,000 Yingli Solar crystalline photovoltaic modules, the Mixdorf project is expected to meet the energy needs of 5,530 families. It is said to be one of the biggest photovoltaic installations of its kind in Germany.
