France: Gehrlicher installs 2.9 MW PV system

The system covers a total of seven warehouse roofs, or 22,000 square meters, and is comprised of 12,069 photovoltaic modules. Contractor Adsoba installed it alongside Gehrlicher.

Located in Hombourg, it is expected that the system will generate around 2.7 million kilowatt hours of energy annually, which is more than enough to supply the 1,000 inhabitants of Hombourg, says Gehrlicher.

"We are pleased to have been able to connect the system to the grid in advance of the planned date and therefore to secure the feed-in tariff of 0.602 euros per kilowatt hour," comments Wolfgang Rosenberg, MD of Gehrlicher Solar France SAS.

He adds, "This project shows the massive potential of the roofs of commercially and industrially used buildings, in particular, for solar generation. We plan to complete further large-scale photovoltaic projects in France in the coming months."
