Moreover, the company will reduce the remaining employees wages by at least 20 percent. The cost cutting measures are a consequence of the Polish governments decision to cut solar energy subsidies, according to the manufacturer.
Jabil launched production of PV modules in Kwidzyn in early 2009. The two plants, Jabil Circuit Poland and Jabil Assembly Poland, have a workforce of about 2,600. Their current and former customers include BP Solar, SunPower and Day4Energy.
In 2011, the two Polish plants had an annual capacity of about 350 megawatts (MW), according to the most recent data from Jabil Circuit Poland.
The production facilities in Kwidzyn are located in the Pomorska special economic zone (PSSE) in the countrys northern region of Pomorskie.
