Pakistan: Punjab government turns to solar

Share

The Chief Minister of Punjab has issued a request for proposals for the installation of half a million solar home solutions in low income households. In addition to raising awareness of alternative energies, the aim is to reduce dependency on the national electric grid and improve environmental conditions in the province.

The government has called upon national and international parties to submit their bids by the end of August for the supply, installation and commissioning of the solar home solutions, which are expected to include, among other items, a 30Wp photovoltaic module, a 12V flooded lead acid battery and a mobile phone charger.

Non-profit, Pakistan-based Partners in Sustainable Development is also looking to partner with manufacturers for this project.
