Assembly robots: In an effort to improve cost effectiveness, two German solar PV companies, PV-Kraftwerker GmbH and Gehrlicher Solar AG, have developed mobile robots that are capable of assembling and installing ground-mounted PV modules. As the companies explain, the use of such robots can deliver a number of key benefits to PV installation companies.
The current breed of PV module assembly robots are “machines which perform the placement and fastening of PV modules onto racking systems,” as Christian Hoepfner, scientific director at the Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE), explains.
