Solar-Fabrik warns of junction box failure

Share

German solar PV company Solar-Fabrik AG said on Wednesday that junction boxes on some of its modules may fail, potentially leading to fire.

"Intense research and tests have shown that the junction box on some modules may fail. This could potentially lead to excess heat, so that fire development cannot be ruled out."

The Freiburg-based company said it would publish a product warning in the next few days. While Solar-Fabrik added that details on immediate actions to contain risk were available on the company website, none could be found at the time of publication.

Solar-Fabrik added that it could not yet provide a forecast on customer claims.

The financially troubled PV manufacturer filed for self-administered insolvency proceedings in February after suffering poor sales last year.
