The Japanese solar company sold the 15 MW Morelos del Sol solar PV project to Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy. The financial details were not disclosed.

"This acquisition fits Southern Power’s business strategy of growing the wholesale business by acquiring generating assets and building new units in targeted markets," commented Southern Power president and CEO, Oscar Harper.

Solar Frontier Americas Development LLC began construction on the plant this July in Kern County, California. Commercial operation is expected to commence late November. When complete, the project will comprise around 111,744 of Solar Frontier’s thin film CIS modules.

Overall, Solar Frontier has a solar PV pipeline totaling 280 MW in the U.S. A total of nine projects are said to currently be in development. No further information was divulged.
