Elettronica Santerno secures 27 MW inverter order in the United States

Italy-based inverter manufacturer Elettronica Santerno, a unit of Italian solar developer Enertronica, announced it will provide an unnamed international power utility with 27 MW of its devices. The company said the inverters will be used for a utility-scale solar plant in Nevada, which will be built by Enertronica. The value of the supply contract is €2.5 million, Enertronica said.

The project, which is scheduled for completion by the end of this year, is part of an engineering contract for the construction of two PV plants with a combined capacity of 50 MW in the United States, which Enertronica secured in March. Both projects will be developed by Enertronica Inc, the company’s U.S. unit that is based in Delaware and has two offices in Massachusetts and Nevada.

In February, Elettronica Santerno bagged an 8 MW inverter supply agreement for another solar project in Minnesota. The $800,000 contract was also awarded by an unspecified international power utility.

Prior to these two agreements, the company had provided inverters with a combined capacity of 270 MW in the United States.

Enetronica acquired a 51% stake in Elettronica Santerno from Italian industrial conglomerate Carraro Group in November 2016. According to Carraro’s 2016 financial results, Elettronica Santerno closed 2016 with total turnover of €36.1 million ($38.5 million), an increase of 2.8% compared to €35.2 million ($37.5 million) in 2015. Last year’s results, however, do not include the month of December.
