Key energy puts the spotlight on the future of solar power

From Tuesday, 6 November to Friday, 9 November at Rimini Expo Centre, the PV sector and its developments step into the spotlight at Key Energy, the renewable energy conference & exhibition for the Mediterranean area organized by Italian Exhibition Group.

KeySolar and KeyStorage are the exhibiting sectors which entirely focus on PV solutions and technology for the storage of energy from renewable sources.

In 2018, Italy experienced a sharp increase in PV Plants installations: over half of them are residential since installation costs are dropping. However, existing photovoltaic facilities in Italy are large-scale plants which account for almost half the power, and they need to be revamped. This is why the future of energy in Italy will be very different from what has been expected so far. Small plants will gradually replace large power stations: these will be powered by renewable sources, connected by smart grids and increasingly efficient storage systems.

This issue will mark the inauguration day of Key Solar: on Tuesday 6th November at 2 pm, university lecturers and exponents of major Italian and international companies will discuss this topic in a conference organized by the scientific committee of Key Energy, titled “Prospects for on-land solar plants.”

The following day at 9.30 am, the technological progress that has fostered the rise of renewable energy and its future development will be discussed at “Frontiers of innovation.” Simultaneously in the Key Solar room, Althesys will present the conference “Italian photovoltaic heading for 2030. Scenarios for renewal and for new plants”.

On the last day of the event, Italia Solare – the Italian Association for Solar Energy – will provide in-depth coverage of the “Digitalization of solar energy: advantages and opportunities.”

Following the spread of distributed generation, the efficient management of smart electricity grids has come to play a key role. On Wednesday 7th November at 9 am, Key Storage will present “The evolution of smart grids”, a conference organized by ANIE, the Italian Federation of electrical engineering and electronics industry. On the same occasion, the federation will also show the results of the white paper on smart grids, realized in collaboration with RSE, the Italian research body for the Energy System.

Key Storage will also offer some insights on the latest news on generation:

Italy has recently witnessed the creation of new examples of integration between production and consumption of renewable energy: virtual power stations with hundreds of connected storage systems conserve the energy generated by renewable plants, PV plants in particular. The current scenario in Italy will be discussed on Thursday 8th November, at “The first results and prospects of the experimentation on aggregators of the 300/2017 resolution”, also promoted by ANIE.
