Atmoce announces 8 kWh AC-coupled residential battery

Netherlands-headquartered inverter and battery manufacturer Atmoce has launched a new 8 kWh residential energy storage system for residential use.

The system uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry and delivers 5 kW of output.

“The MS-8K-U PRO uses Tier-1 battery cells designed for more than 15,000 cycles and up to 51 MWh of lifetime energy throughput,” the company said in a statement. “It has a semiconductor-based power conversion system (PCS) engineered for long-term reliability and operational stability.”

The storage system operates below 30 Vdc, avoiding the high-voltage DC architecture commonly used in residential battery systems.

Atmoce claims an AC round-trip efficiency of 90%, measured by charging and discharging the system at a constant 700 W at ambient temperature. DC round-trip efficiency is listed at 96%, measured at a constant charge and discharge rate of 0.2 C. Total harmonic current distortion is below 3%.

“The Extra-Low Voltage architecture works together with Atmoce’s Trinity Safety design, integrating multiple layers of electrical, thermal and system protection,” the company explained. “Rather than relying on protection measures alone, Atmoce’s Absolute Safety philosophy starts at the architectural level, reducing risk by design.”

The units measure 830 mm × 480 mm × 195 mm and weigh 76.5 kg without their mounting brackets. They can be installed on a wall or floor and feature an IP66 enclosure. The specified ambient operating temperature range is -30 C to 55 C, with an optimum operating range of 0 C to 30 C. Atmoce lists operating noise at below 35 dB and says the devices can operate at altitudes of up to 3,000 meters.

The new product comes with a 25-year warranty.
