Ukraine auctions 150 MW of solar
Ukraine’s state-owned JSC Guaranteed Buyer, the offtaker and intermediary in the country’s electricity market, is set to run two solar auctions offering a combined 150 MW on September 25.
An update posted by the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (ASEU) explains a 50 MW auction will take place with a maximum bid price of €0.08 ($0.093)/kWh, while a 100 MW solar-plus-storage auction has a maximum bid price of €0.12/kWh.
ASEU explains participation in the solar-plus-storage auction is subject to the energy storage system being at least 80% of the installed capacity of the generating units, while its energy capacity must be at least 2 kWh per each kW of installed solar PV capacity.
The association adds that no market premium will be paid to winners between 12:00 and 13:59, with support for projects provided outside this window.
The auction can cover facilities located in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions, as well as the city of Kyiv.
“At the same time, these restrictions do not apply to areas of active hostilities and temporarily occupied territories for which no end date of hostilities or temporary occupation has been determined,” ASEU’s analysis adds.
Both auctions will be held through the state-owned digital electronic trading system JSC Prozorro.Sale.
Ukraine deployed around 1.5 GW of solar in 2025, taking cumulative capacity to in excess of 8.5 GW.
