Giant electric boiler energized by wind and solar in the Netherlands
Swedish energy company Vattenfall is planning to build a 150 MW electric boiler near Amsterdam under the Netherlands’ SDE+ program for large scale renewables. The facility is planned to operate when a lot of electricity from wind and sun is available and to supply hot water to households in the city and its surrounding areas.
Engie switches on 60 MW of solar in Senegal
Engie energized two facilities with capacities of 35 MW and 25 MW, respectively, in the central part of Senegal. The two plants will sell power to the local grid under a 25-year PPA at a price of XOF25/kWh ($0.046).
Developers building solar parks along Dutch highway
Rijkswaterstaat – the water management agency of the Netherlands – has revealed that developers are working on four large-scale PV projects along the A7 highway. They are being built under the Regional Energy Strategy Noord-Holland Noord program.
Albania’s first floating PV plant is now operational
The 500 kW floating array was built with floating membranes supplied by Norwegian specialist Ocean Sun. The project is expected to continue its second implementation phase during the second half of 2021, when three more 500 kW floating units will be installed.
Nano-micro-scale cooler for solar modules
The proposed technique is based on radiative cooling and consists of a glass coating made with a two-dimensional subwavelength nanostructured grating, which is imprinted in soda-lime glass and has enhanced mid-infrared emissivity, and a micro-structured grating. The temperature decrease provided by the nano-micro-grating coating was found to be approximately up to 5.8 degrees Celsius.
Bifacial n-type TOPCon cell with 22.6% efficiency
The device also showed an open-circuit voltage of 702 mV, a short-circuit current of 40 mA/cm2, and a fill factor of 79.7%. It has a large area of 239 cm².
Large scale PV returns to Czechia thanks to $216 million solar rebate program
The RES+ program will be open to installations of up to 1 MW and also solar power projects exceeding 1 MW in size. Selected developers may secure a rebate covering up to 50% of a project’s cost.
Taiwan’s Wushantou Dam to host 13.7 MW floating PV array
The floating plant will be deployed at the 20 MW Wushantou hydroelectric power dam operated by Taiwanese state-owned utility Taiwan Power Corp, in Tainan city.
10-year PPA for 8 MW solar park in Sweden
Construction on the facility is expected to be finalized in April 2022. The electricity generated by the plant will be bought by Swedish polymer-based products provider Nolato Group.

The Chinese module manufacturer said the result was confirmed by the Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hamelin, Germany.
