EU carbon prices have outperformed expectations in recent months. And the bull run looks set to continue next year, which would be a boost for renewables, including solar.
Germany generated 24% of its electricity from hard coal and lignite in August, compared with 29% in August 2019 and 38% in August 2018, according to data from the Fraunhofer Institute. Less coal will make more room for solar and other renewables.
