Best practice project - ongridSandbar Solar constructed a new office facility in Santa Cruz, CA and designed the facility to be an off-grid microgrid, bypassing the local electric utility. Ageto partnered with Sandbar to provide the microgrid control system as well as system analysis to determine the optimal solar, battery, and generator sizing to minimize operating costs and maximize renewable energy utilization. ARC provides the primary user interface, real-time controls, and system monitoring of the microgrid power system. ARC has delivered over 95% renewable energy and has operated for over a month straight on 100% renewable power. The off-grid microgrid is providing cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable power than the local utility.
Best practice project - offgridHaley Brothers, an architectural doors company manufacturing commercial building doors in Southern California, installed a microgrid with multiple use cases enabled by ARC. First, Haley Brothers wanted resilient backup power for the Protected Load Panel to maintain continuity of operations during the more frequent power outages. Second, to change utility rates, Haley Brothers needed to reduce their facility demand to less than 20 kW to qualify for the new rate, with ARC peak shaving throughout the day as necessary. Third, Haley Brothers also wanted to reduce the amount of energy purchased from the utility to reduce their carbon footprint as well as saving money. The ARC microgrid controller seamlessly coordinates the microgrid power system enabling the facility to capture the value of the multiple value streams from the energy storage system, saving the facility money.
