AlphaESS enters Chile, betting on Latin America’s leading storage market

The move comes as Chile’s storage pipeline expands rapidly. Renewables now account for roughly 70% of installed capacity in the national grid, but rising curtailment of solar and wind generation has made storage central to the country’s energy strategy. According to ACERA, the Chilean renewable energy and storage association, the country expects around 10 GW of operational storage by early 2027, with batteries increasingly co-located with solar plants to shift daytime generation into the evening peak.

AlphaESS is positioning itself across the full range of that demand, from distributed commercial and industrial installations to utility-scale projects. For the C&I segment, the company is preparing to launch its STORION-TB150, a fully liquid-cooled system in which both the battery and the inverter are temperature-regulated, a design intended to improve performance stability and extend system life under demanding conditions. With an operating noise level of 60 dB or below, the system is suited to commercial and urban sites where acoustic limits often constrain deployment.

The company is also bringing modular cabinet and containerised solutions designed for ease of transport and installation in hard-to-reach locations, a recurring challenge in Chile, where many projects are located at altitude or in the remote conditions of the Atacama region.

“We came to Chile not only to supply products, but to build long-term partnerships,” said Josh Deng, General Manager of AlphaESS América and MEA. “We’re here to support project development side by side with local players, and to provide local service and local commitment.”

AlphaESS frames Chile as a cornerstone of its wider Latin American strategy, combining a global footprint of more than 300,000 systems across 100 countries with a dedicated local team. The company says it will track Chile’s evolving market segments, including distributed generation under the PMGD regime, C&I peak shaving, and demand from energy-intensive sectors such as mining, agriculture, and data centres.
