The realization of the largest single roof solar project in the Netherlands will start the beginning of April. More than 28,000 solar panels will be placed on the roof of a distribution center in Venlo. Etriplus developed the plan and laid the basis for the mega solar roof. Etriplus then reached an agreement with KiesZon for the realization of the project. KiesZon, subsidiary of Etriplus shareholder Greenchoice, is responsible for the further development, financing, realization and maintenance of the project. The solar power project is made possible with the support of the Province of Limburg and Greenport Venlo.

The roof of the distribution center in Venlo has a surface area of more than 80,000 square meters and will be almost completely covered with solar panels. The 28,000 panels generate approximately 7 MWh of renewable energy per year. That is, to compare, enough green energy to power over 2,000 households for a year. Approximately half of the generated energy will be used by the distribution centers user. The remaining green electricity will be offered to companies and residents in the region.

Director of KiesZon, Gideon Overwater: “We are very pleased with the cooperation with Etriplus, because of their local involvement with entrepreneurs we can come up with and realize tailor-made solutions. Our mission is to be able to add value to our customers who wish to generate their own solar power.” Etriplus and KiesZon expect the enormous solar project to be fully functioning later this year.
