As energy storage systems are increasingly deployed closer to load centers, including peri-urban and residential areas, compliance with local noise regulations has become a critical factor in project permitting and stakeholder acceptance. In a dedicated session at the summit, Michael Steininger-Yang, Managing Director of AlphaESS Germany, provided an in-depth analysis of the primary noise sources in BESS installations, including transformer electromagnetic noise, PCS switching noise, and auxiliary cooling system noise. He also introduced a full lifecycle noise management framework, covering component selection, system layout, and operational and maintenance (O&M) strategies, offering attendees a practical and engineering-driven reference for real-world deployment.

Proven Solutions for Noise-Sensitive Energy Storage Projects

In his presentation, Steininger-Yang shared several project examples from Germany that highlighted AlphaESS’s practical experience in addressing noise challenges across different application scenarios. These projects included both environmentally sensitive sites subject to stringent regulations and industrial locations required to comply with strict noise limits to minimize community disturbance. By combining low-noise liquid cooling technology, optimized equipment selection, and project-specific acoustic engineering, AlphaESS successfully met demanding noise standards while ensuring reliable system

Additionally, the company announced that it will unveil its latest utility-scale product, the Aster 6260, at ees Europe 2026, taking place from June 23–25 in Munich.
