For the past 10 years, this series of reports has firmly been established as the authority on photovoltaic technology. ??The discussion will address the role of photovoltaics on a global scale and how this type of clean, efficient and renewable energy could generate enough electricity to satisfy 21 percent of the worlds electricity needs by 2050.
Coupled with the subsequent reduction of CO2, predicted by 2020 to be in the region of a staggering 542 million tonnes, by switching only 20 percent of power generation to photovoltaics, four billion tonnes of CO2 per year could be avoided from 2050.??
This publication provides a set of recommendations for developing both on-grid and off-grid markets world-wide. If well designed and accompanied by strong co-drivers such as simple administrative processes and smooth grid connection procedures the feed-in mechanism has proved to be the most effective scheme in developed countries. ??
The high level panel will also discuss:??
- The recommendations for the global development of both on-grid and off-grid markets?;
- How photovoltaic technology has already demonstrated and will continue to be a motor of economic development, attracting investments and creating local jobs; and
- The many social and environmental benefits that photovoltaics can offer.???
