European Energy connects Rødby Fjord Solar Park to the grid

European Energy has connected the solar park Rødby Fjord to the grid. Construction on Rødby Fjord was initiated in May 2021 and the solar park has a total energy capacity of 71 MW. The solar park is located on the Danish island of Lolland.

– We are going to see a year with a lot of activity in our home market of Denmark. We have several projects that will be connected to the grid in the first half of 2022 and Rødby Fjord is a fine start for our company here at the beginning of the year, says Knud Erik Andersen, CEO of European Energy.

European Energy has more than 9 GW of green energy capacity under development in Denmark of which more than 8 GW are solar parks. It is estimated that 25 % of Denmark’s total electricity consumption can be covered by solar energy just utilizing the space of 0,5 percent of Denmark’s total agricultural land area. The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) estimates that Denmark by 2040 will have 13 GW of solar energy capacity, while using 35.1 TWh of electricity for traditional electricity usage.
