Hanergy ropes in Mondo as distributor for its HanTile in Hong Kong
The world’s largest thin-film solar power solution company, Hanergy Thin Film Power Group, announced today it has inked a strategic cooperation agreement with Mondo Green Energy Ltd, one of Hong Kong’s leading building solution companies, to assign Mondo distribution rights in Hong Kong for its innovative BIPV product, HanTile.
Under the agreement, the companies will ramp up sales of the HanTile. Hanergy has also signed a purchasing contract worth up to RMB100 million (US$14.8 million) for thin film power products.
The signing ceremony was held at the Hanergy Shenzhen R&D Centre. Yi Fengqin, global CEO of Hanergy’s HanTile product; Li Hangzhou, BIPV chief executive of Guangdong Hanergy; Cao Wenhui, senior regional director of Hanergy Hong Kong; Raymond Ching, general manager of Mondo; and Gary Cheng, director of technology engineering at Mondo, attended the ceremony, where Mondo was officially announced as regional distributor for the HanTile.
Commenting on the collaboration with Mondo, Yi said: “We’re confident of scaling new heights with this collaboration, which is aimed at strengthening the regional sales of our innovative HanTile product in [the] Hong Kong market. We’re proud to have created a mobile energy industry thereby, altering the perception of the photovoltaic industry through the introduction of varied products and applications.
“Hanergy’s HanTile, HanWall, HanBrick, HanPower, Humbrella and other thin film solar energy products and solutions, today cover most of the market applications in [the] clean energy sector. In addition, the Hong Kong government’s strong support for clean energy and broad market prospects have laid a solid foundation for future cooperations.”
The Hong Kong government carried out a renewable energy feed-in tariff scheme last year. As per the plan, two electricity companies will purchase renewable energy from the private sector for HK$3-5/kW (US$0.38-0.64). The policy has been popular and, as of late February, the Hong Kong government said it had received nearly 1,800 applications for the scheme.
Hanergy’s thin-film solar technology and products are very suitable for Hong Kong, owing to weight, which is a lot lighter than crystalline silicon, and excellent low-light power generation capability. Even in dim light, it can absorb and generate electricity.
Mondo’s Cheng said: “Hanergy’s products are very popular among Hong Kong citizens and have wider application in [the] government’s green projects, villas, international schools, village houses, factory building roofs, suburban color-coated board warehouses etc. We’re pleased to be the company’s official distributor for its HanTile product in Hong Kong.”
Launched in 2017, HanTile perfectly combines one of the world’s most efficient solar chips and the aesthetics while bringing a greener life to traditional buildings. Last year, with the debut of the single glass layer HanTile, Hanergy further lightened the weight and extended product application scenarios. HanTile is also a globally certified product, securing recognition including China’s 3C and CQC standards, and certification from Germany’s TÜV Rheinland, the U.S. and Canada’s UL and the EU’s CE schemes.
Hanergy’s solar cells have set world records for conversion efficiency several times, with a latest benchmark set at 29.1%. The company launched and upgraded consumer products in 2018 including the Humbrella solar-powered umbrella; SolarTank solar backpack; and the HanPower solar power bank, to retain the brand’s leading position in the mobile energy sector. Subsequently, with the debut of the HanTile in April and the HanWall in September, Hanergy upped the ante in building-integrated PV.
Constant breakthroughs in the sector have led to a steady surge in Hanergy’s market value. Further, Hanergy’s “mobile energy +” model is well in place to promote the in-depth integration of mobile energy and traditional industries, and is expected by the company to drive huge market demand, new business models and potential innovation.
