John Buffington joins SolAmerica Energy as Vice President Business Development

SolAmerica Energy, LLC, a leading solar design, development and construction firm, has announced the addition of John Buffington as Vice President, Business Development.

In this role, Mr. Buffington will have responsibility for leading SolAmerica’s solar development and EPC efforts in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. SolAmerica is currently constructing a 2 MW solar project for SunEdison in Howard County, Maryland. He will be a resident in SolAmerica’s Washington, DC, office, slated to open this summer.

Mr. Buffington has more than 15 years of experience working with companies to improve the bottom line while boosting environmental performance. As the founder and director of Karbon Strateji, John provided business development support for companies offering solar PV and energy-efficient products. Prior to Karbon Strateji, he was a managing consultant at Blu Skye Sustainability Consultants, where he designed and implemented corporate sustainability programs for Fortune 500 companies, including Walmart. Blu Skye’s collaboration with Walmart is considered one of the premier corporate efforts to challenge business as usual based on environmental sustainability. Mr. Buffington received his MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina. He has a Masters in Environmental Management and Policy, also from The University of North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, cum laude, from the University of Georgia.
