Compared to other alternative energy sources, nuclear energy rises one rank in popularity and becomes the 7th most popular energy source forthe future energy mix. This increase comes at the expense of biomass, ground-mounted solarenergy and heat pumps, which have decreased significantly in popularity. Solar energy on roofs continues to lead the ranking, two out of three respondents have a positive attitude towards this source of energy generation. The solar energy market has shown strong growth in recent years. “The residential solar energy market in the Netherlands is growing at a fast and stable pace”, says RolfHeynen, director of DutchNewEnergy Research. “The Netherlands is a European leader with the number of households investing in solar panels on roofs.'
