The ROTARIS is a modularly built machine for precise coating in ultra-high vacuum (up to 10-8 mbar). The already existing collaboration in the area of magneto-electronics (EU project Magwire) is further extended. Amongst others, the planned cooperation includes the research of the latest magneto-electric materials, which are of utmost importance for MRAM memory and sensors.

The goal of the project is to establish an internationally competitive and independent technology transfer and service center for new materials (TT-DINEMA) in Rhineland-Palatinate for the provision of new Heusler-based material concepts from the development of test samples up to the demonstration of the principle industrial maturity. The service center TT-DINEMA forms the base for innovative development projects in various application areas, which range from solar technology to medical technology and thermoelectrics, which can be utilized by small- and medium-sized companies in particular. The service center is supported by the state Rhineland-Palatine through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

“Our vacuum coating machines increasingly form the basis for new applications in the semiconductor industry with big market potential. In the meantime, SINGULUS has become the leading supplier of this coating technology, which is applied in the development and production of MRAM wafers, for the manufacturing of write/read heads in the hard disc drive sector and for other, especially magneto-electric semiconductor applications," comments Dr. Stefan Rinck, CEO of the SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG.

Due to promising talks about additional projects, the company expects further agreements to be concluded in the coming months. SINGULUS’ nano-coating technology is thus increasingly appealing to the production of MRAM memories and highly-specialized sensors. The current development confirms the company’s favorable expectation regarding this segment’s future.
