pv magazine Insight will be held on October 30, at The Battery Show India Expo 2025 and moderated by pv magazine’s Uma Gupta and Mark Hutchins.
Global supply chains are under the spotlight in 2025. With tariffs and trade restrictions among the year’s most discussed topics, efforts to build resilient, localized supply chains are ramping up worldwide and will be key to the renewable energy industry’s future.
India has already seen huge success in establishing domestic solar manufacturing. Though it is beginning to pursue a similar strategy of tariffs and incentives for battery manufacturing, the picture for energy storage is less clear.
Battery mandates for new solar projects are set to drive demand for stationary energy storage, and India has a rapidly growing electric-vehicle segment. But the country is expected to remain dependent on imports of batteries and related materials to feed this demand, at least in the medium term.
In this pv magazine Insight, held at The Battery Show India, we’ll hear from those working to build a battery supply chain in India, as well as market observers and representatives from the buyer and policymaker side. Focus topics will include how current battery manufacturing plans are taking shape, the role of the EV industry, the impact of restrictions on export of critical minerals and technologies, and other challenges to India’s battery manufacturing efforts, promising technology alternatives such as sodium-ion, and much more.
