Puerto Rico utility favors LNG over solar in Siemens plan

The Puerto Rico utility’s favored generation plan, in a report prepared by Siemens, involves an LNG terminal at San Juan and would achieve only 55% renewables by 2038. A scenario without LNG would reach 79% renewables by 2038 at comparable cost, based on undisclosed cost assumptions.

Ecuador introduces net metering for solar up to 500 kW

The new rules will enable the microgeneration from solar power generators up to 300 kW for residential users, and 500 kW for industrial users.

Argentina issues secondary legislation for distributed generation

The new decree, which regulates the law for DG promulgated at the end of 2017, is intended to support distributed generation of renewable energy sources under net metering. The fund for DG, though, has shrunk by half in value thanks to currency depreciation.

Naturgy finances Brazilian PV projects through $71.5m bond issuance

Enel begins work on 475 MW solar plant in Brazil

Enel will invest around 1,400 million BRL ($390 million) in the construction of the São Gonçalo solar plant, located in the state of Piauí. The 475 MW project is currently the largest PV plant under construction in South America.
