RWE and Engie could be intertwined soon. According to Reuters, the investment banks of both energy providers are currently examining different options. The article reports that RWE could sell to the French energy giant all of its majority stake in its renewable energy unit Innogy, or a part of it. The French energy giant is offering to acquire Innogy, the renewable energy unit of German power provider RWE. Innogy acquired German developer Belectric and its huge solar power plant portfolio in January.
The German EPC contractor is currently installing the largest battery storage system in Saxony, eastern Germany. The battery is expected to come online in the second quarter of this year.
