Distributed solar can arrive in many forms, from the typical small array installed on a family home, to vast, multi-megawatt installations atop large warehouses and factories. Each market sector faces its own challenges and opportunities, and pv magazine has identified five key questions that could well shape these various rooftop sectors throughout 2018 and beyond.

A major milestone was surpassed in the Australian PV market last month, indicating that the rooftop solar sector is in robust health. However, not tracked in the figures underlying the record are large commercial rooftops and distributed battery storage, and reports are that here too strong growth is being achieved.

Solar Energy Corporation India (SECI), on behalf of Coal India limited (CIL) has invited bids for two 100 MW solar power plants. The government authority will clarify the bidding requirement in a meeting to be held on November 13 in Kolkata.

Property developer Fambau has unveiled a new building in the Swiss capital which includes an installation of 130 Avancis thin-film modules integrated into the building’s southern façade. According to Avancis, the installation takes up 135 square meters, and will generate up to 12 MWh per year.

The PV plant is one of the country’s first merchant solar projects after the energy reform was introduced. The project’s required investment was $14 million.

German PV system integrator is to built four more PV rooftop systems on the island state. In 2016 Phoenix Solar already completed two solar projects in the Philippines.
