Open-source blockchain platform Energy Web Foundation has revealed the number of its affiliates has risen from 37 to 100 in recent months. New members include EnBW, Total and a unit of the State Grid Corporation of China. The platform was conceived to create an energy-blockchain ecosystem and to accelerate the energy transition.

Dutch pension fund and Shell eye acquisition of energy company Eneco

PGGM and Shell have expressed interest in acquiring sustainable energy company Eneco, a municipality owned business which wants to go private. The energy provider has installed 100 MW of PV and operates in northwest Europe.

Next Kraftwerke connects 2 MW battery to its VPP in Belgium

The virtual power plant (VPP) solutions provider connected its product with a 2 MW storage system in Belgium. It will be the country’s first storage system to take part in the grid’s frequency control reserve.

Eneco finalizes 48 MW storage project in Germany

Construction on the facility was started eight months ago. In the future, the large-scale lithium-ion storage facility may participate in weekly auctions for primary reserve capacity.

Eneco and Mitsubishi build 48 MW battery in Germany

The storage system EnspireME is expected to become operational by the end of this year. Through an additional pilot project, surplus power from local wind plants will be managed and stored.

Eneco acquires Eni Belgium, plans more investments in solar and wind

The Dutch power provider has acquired Belgian utility Eni Belgium and a larger share in Belgium’s power market. The company said that it will now invest in new power production in the country, especially in solar and wind.
